Your initial appointment will last about 60 minutes and will focus on getting to know you, learning about your background, and exploring how counseling can best support your needs.
If you’re feeling unwell or live with someone who is sick or contagious—especially during flu season—please contact us to reschedule or switch to a virtual appointment. This applies to any illness, from a common cold to COVID. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you do not come into the office if you’re sick.
Yes. If you miss more than three consecutive sessions, your services may be paused. Additionally, if you go more than 30 days without scheduling an appointment, your chart will be closed. Please note that cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed (“no-show”) appointments will incur a $100 fee.
Virtual sessions are conducted through the Simple Practice Client Portal, which can be accessed from any device. For the best experience, use a strong Wi-Fi connection. Please ensure you’re in a private, quiet space with minimal distractions and no one else present during your session.
A credit card must be kept on file before your initial evaluation. All cards are securely stored in our electronic health record system (Simple Practice). Copays are charged at the time of your session, and any deductible amounts will be processed once your insurance claim has been returned and the exact balance is confirmed. If your card needs to be updated, we’ll send you a form through the client portal. Please note that if your account balance exceeds $100, services will be paused until payment is made.
No. We do not provide crisis or emergency support. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911, 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency room. As a small practice, Newtown Counseling Center schedules appointments only during regular business hours. Please note that texting and email are not confidential and should only be used for scheduling or administrative matters.
